Cristo Rey Richmond was founded as a ministry in 2018 of Bon Secours Ministries and is now sponsored by Bon Secours Mercy Ministries.

Below is a reflection from 2018 by Sr. Pat Eck, CBS, Chair of Bon Secours Ministries on this blessed partnership.

“Some may ask, ‘Why Bon Secours?’ We, in health care, know the role that secure housing and education play in the health of a community. We are so accustomed to the medical model of care that sometimes we forget that the level of education is one of the key indicators of a healthy community. So this is exciting for us to be working with [Cristo Rey Richmond]. This will change the community… It will change the lives of many in this community… This is our appointed time… This is our time to prepare the next generation to be faith-filled and strong, living God’s call of love.”

*The 35 sponsoring groups of Cristo Rey schools ensure that the institutions are Catholic in identity and mission, true to the religious charism of the order, and appropriately governed. The religious communities have the obligation of developing a local culture that is faithful to the guiding principles of the Cristo Rey spirituality and the Cristo Rey Network Mission Effectiveness Standards.
