Mr. Ben Perkins

Social Studies Instructor
Ben Perkins is originally from Charlottesville, VA, and is a proud graduate of Charlottesville High School. After graduating from high school, Mr. Perkins earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Christopher Newport University as a History major, along with minors in Psychology and Human Rights/Conflict Resolution. Mr. Perkins would go on to earn his Masters in Teaching from the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education before beginning his teaching career.

Mr. Perkins began his teaching career in the Manassas City Public Schools as a Social Studies Teacher at Metz Middle School. After four years of teaching at Metz, he and his family moved to the Richmond area and he spent one year teaching History in the Chesterfield County Public Schools. Mr. Perkins is very excited about joining the Cristo Rey Richmond team this year and is passionate about ensuring that every one of his students reach their potential and achieve their aspirations beyond high school.

Outside of the classroom, Mr. Perkins loves all things sports – and has even had the opportunity to coach basketball and baseball at some of his prior schools. In his free time he loves playing golf, playing ultimate frisbee, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends.
