LeRoy Orie

LeRoy Orie is a native of Newport News, VA and after graduating from Menchville High School, he earned a Music Management degree from James Madison University. While active in Catholic Campus Ministry there he met his wife, LuAnn, and their careers led them to make a home, along with their 3 children, in the Richmond area.

Mr. Orie joined the Cristo Rey team with a background of Catholic youth ministry. For 20+ years as a Youth Minister at the Catholic Church of the Redeemer, he had been working with 6th – 12th graders in developing their faith journey, social, service and leadership skills to become the person that God has called them to be. His degree in music management and his involvement in Catholic Campus Ministry at JMU helped to make connections with youth on many levels. After discerning a career change, the decision was made to return to college to become a licensed math teacher. This decision was made to remain connected to the ministry of our youth, but in a different way. Being an instructor at Cristo Rey is a prayer answered and a dream come true! He looks forward to developing a very competitive math department along with the other math teachers and staff at Cristo Rey to help create a strong sense of community and accomplishment for all of our students.

When not teaching, Mr. Orie enjoys playing electric bass in the local Dave Tinney Band, working on projects around the home and most importantly, spending time with his wife while they travel to visit their children, grand kids and extended family.
