Heide Knapik was born and raised in New York City. After 12 years of Catholic schooling, Mrs. Knapik continued her education at an all-women’s Catholic college, Marymount College Tarrytown, and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Marketing. She worked in the advertising industry in NYC, Connecticut, and Richmond for 15 years. A few years after moving to the Richmond area, Mrs. Knapik decided to change careers and obtained a Virginia teacher’s license in elementary education through Mary Baldwin University and has endorsements in Spanish and ESL. After 20 years in education, Mrs. Knapik was drawn to Cristo Rey’s mission of preparing young people of limited economic means for college and beyond.
Mrs. Knapik and her husband are enjoying empty nesting. She also keeps busy with salsa Rueda dancing, attending VT and UT college sporting events, walking her Beaglier, Sammy, and visiting family in New York and Florida.
