Mrs. Kathleen Powers Tenaglia

English Language Arts Lead Instructor / Writing Center Coordinator

Kathleen Powers has spent her entire teaching career in Cristo Rey. She began teaching English at the Cristo Rey school in Tucson, Arizona. She holds a master’s degree in Secondary Education Language Arts from the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. in Education from The University of Alabama. Kathleen spent her student teaching in the public school system of rural Alabama. She began her own teaching career teaching freshman English in Tucson, where she taught for three years before moving to Richmond. While she was teaching in Arizona, Kathleen was also working on her master’s degree through the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education. This first experience on the Cristo Rey model was pivotal, and convinced Kathleen to continue her career in the network. In her free time, Kathleen likes to hike, read, run, and learn to watercolor. Kathleen feels blessed to be part of this team, and is looking forward to building a competitive English program at Cristo Rey Richmond.
