Through a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, integrated with a relevant work study experience, students graduate ready to succeed in college and in life.
Our Academics Team is deeply committed to providing a rich and engaging education for our students, and we have a clear vision of the community that want to create together and the destination for each scholar: to and through college, into a successful career!

Cristo Rey students earn the majority of their tuition by spending four days a week in college preparatory coursework and one day in a professional, entry level job as part of their Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) requirements. Four years of rigorous academics combined with CWSP experience ensures our students are college and career ready.
The Cristo Rey program is as rewarding for our company as it is for the students. It is exciting to watch the students grow in their business skills and social skills. We are entering into our fourth year of the program and I hope I am around to enjoy our fortieth!
We ‘say’ one of our core values is supporting our communities. Having our Cristo Rey Richmond students in the office give us a chance to actually ‘do’ it. They are doing great work, are a pleasure to be around, and bring their smiles to the office every day. It’s a win all the way around.
Thanks to Cristo Rey, I’ve learned earlier than most on how to be professional in an environment that demands it. This is especially useful in a school like the Virginia Military Institute.
Cristo Rey prepared me for college by giving me real world experience. The work study program really prepared me for having to network and how to present myself in a professional way. I feel like the curriculum in class also generates critical thinking skills that are more valuable than I thought they would be.
Cristo Rey has prepared me to go into professional setting and be confident in them. The rigor of Cristo Rey’s classes has prepared me for my college courses and I greatly appreciate that because I was able to adjust pretty well to my course load. While at Cristo Rey, I was able to work on my time management skills being that I have a lot of extracurriculars and that also prepared me for planning out my days and how I use my time throughout the week.
Cristo Rey Richmond prepared me for college in a couple of ways. The main way is the workload, being that Cristo Rey Richmond is a college preparatory school the workload was something that wasn’t the same as a regular high school. I got a sliver of learning harder concepts before I got to college. Another way would be time management. I got the chance to be very involved in my community while still having a heavy workload and working outside of school. All of this taught me early what methods of organization work for me. For example, I learned that I need a planner to function and get everything I need to get done.
